Treatment
Where appropriate, your treatment will begin with a professional in-clinic application followed by a personalised homecare programme. The homecare products are an important part of the Cosmelan® protocol and help to continue the depigmenting process while supporting your skin throughout the treatment journey.
Does it hurt?
Cosmelan® is a topical treatment rather than an injectable procedure. Some patients experience warmth, tingling, redness or sensitivity during the treatment and throughout the active phase of the homecare programme.
How long does it take?
Please allow approximately 45–60 minutes for your initial appointment, including consultation, skin preparation and treatment application. Your exact treatment plan will depend on your individual skin and pigmentation.
Who will perform the treatment?
Treatments are provided within our doctor-led clinic by our highly trained, fully qualified and insured professional team, with clinical oversight from Dr Amanda.
Recovery
Cosmelan® is an active pigmentation treatment and some downtime should be expected.
Depending on your individual response, you may experience redness, dryness, tightness, peeling, sensitivity or temporary increased skin sensitivity during the treatment process.
These effects are a normal part of the skin’s response to an active depigmentation programme and should settle as your skin adjusts.
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions and guidance on how to use your homecare products safely and effectively.
Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential throughout treatment and should remain an important part of your skincare routine afterwards.
Results
Results vary depending on the type and severity of pigmentation, your skin type and how closely the treatment and homecare programme are followed.
